“In the desert prepare the way of the Lord.” –Isaiah 40:3 Advent thought for today: Don’t avoid the “deserts” you encounter in your everyday experience, for surely God is right there in the thick of things.
“Say to those whose hearts are frightened: Be strong, fear not. Here is your God!… He comes to save you.” –Isaiah 35:4 Advent thought for today: Be a model of forgiveness showing how God waits with open arms to embrace those who have failed.
“Prepare the way of the Lord, make straight his paths.” –Matthew 3:3 Advent thought for today: This week look for people, places and situations that long for God’s presence. In the here and now, your own acts of love, compassion and justice help prepare for Christ’s coming.
“Go to the lost sheep… Without cost you have received; without cost you are to give.” — Matthew 10:6, 8 Advent thought for today: Nourish your relationship with God and let it show, because one day someone else may become lost, and if they have no faith of their own, they’ll need yours.
“Out of gloom and darkness, the eyes of the blind shall see.” — Isaiah 29:18 Advent thought for today: Look past the annoyances, frustrations and pain that block your view, and see the work of God’s hands that surrounds you.
“Open up the gates to let in a nation that is just, one that keeps faith.” –Isaiah 26:2 Advent thought for today: Ask yourself: What have I done that separates me from God? What must I change to turn back to him?
