Growing up, our parents taught us by example how to be good Christians. Yes, we all stumble and stray from the path a little, but going to mass always brought me back to complete love and trust in God. Receiving the body and blood of Christ during Communion is where I find Jesus the most dominant in my life.
When I lost my father it was a very trying time. He wasn't sick, he just fell over backwards going up the stairs. Having the doctor tell my mother he was gone was very hard on mom. It was hard to understand why God wanted to take such a caring man who disliked no one, and was loved by everyone. But we all knew it was his time to be with God. Then losing a brother wasn't easy either. As Father Mark would say, "Gosh! Dang!" Then we understand to live we must die.
Sixteen years ago, the business I worked at changed hands and things were not good; big pay cut, employer who wasn't fair, tension, and not much to live on. We had just purchased a different home and were expecting a new child.
Well, guess what! God came along and there was a job opening in Rapid City. Two interviews later, there was a huge decision for us to make, and it meant going further in debt. In spite of that, we made the change. Now through our faith, things are much better. Where do we find Jesus? Just look around you.
